The Ministry of Worship
Creating an inspirational atmosphere of worship that magnifies who God is and what He is doing in the souls of people
As humans made in the image of God our creator we each were made to worship our Creator Jehovah. God is seeking worshippers on whom He can show His goodness so that we, in turn, can magnify God on this earth. God appeared on earth in the form of Jesus Christ the Savior of the world for the whole purpose that we could know God in all His glory and be intimately joined to Him in a divine relationship. Worship magnifies God and nurtures that relationship. When we "present our bodies as a living sacrifice" (Romans 12:1) to God, turning away from ungodliness and turning to a life modeled after that of Jesus Christ, we are becoming worshippers. A person living a lifestyle of worship gives God the glory He deserves and guarantees that people will live life to the greatest personal fulfillment. Lifestyle worship is not just about praising the Lord.
Yet praise to the Lord is important to being a God-worshipper. Ephesians 5:18-20 tells us:
"Do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks for all things in the name of out Lord Jesus Christ to God..."
We are to turn away from things in life that appear fulfilling but, in reality, leave us feeling empty in the end. Instead we are to seek to be filled with the Spirit of God. Worshipping God through praise and thanksgiving is key to worship because it exalts God and places us in a closer relationship to Him at the same time. The Bible says He is "enthroned upon" the praises of His people.
When we praise God and thank Him for His gifts, we enthrone Him in our hearts and simultaneously draw intimately near to Him in a mystic, thrilling, and eternally satisfying way. Furthermore, we not only build our relationship with God, we also build our relationship with one another.
